What is Jiu Jitsu and how is it different from other martial arts?​

Do I need any experience or fitness level to start jiu-jitsu?​

​Not at all! Our beginner classes are designed for people of all fitness levels and ages. Over time, you’ll build strength, flexibility, and confidence while training at your own pace. Everyone on the mats started as a beginner, so you’ll always feel welcome and supported as you being your jiu jitsu journey.

What should I wear to my first jiu jitsu class?​

​If you’re new, comfortable workout clothes are just fine – like shorts and a t-shirt that can handle a little tugging. Most people eventually train in a gi (the traditional uniform) or no-gi gear (rash guard and shorts). Our instructors can help you choose the right gear once you’re ready to commit to training regularly. Don’t worry about buying anything before your first class – just show up, and we’ll take care of the rest.​

Is jiu Jitsu good for self-defense?​

​Yes, absolutely. Jiu Jitsu is one of the most effective martial arts for real-world self-defense because it teaches how to stay calm and control an attacker, even from the ground.
